About

About Me

Hello, my name is Cynthia. I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and I provide both long-term and short-term therapy to individuals and couples. I offer counselling in person, by telephone or online via Zoom or Google Meet.  Seeking support from a trained professional during challenging times can be incredibly beneficial. Here are a few reasons why talking to a trained professional can help: Objective Perspective: I provide an objective viewpoint. I listen without judgment and help you gain a clearer understanding of your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. My outside perspective can offer insights that may be difficult to see on your own. Emotional Support: During difficult times, it's common to feel overwhelmed, confused, or isolated. Talking to a trained professional can provide a safe space to express your feelings and concerns openly. I offer empathy, validation, and emotional support, helping you feel understood and less alone. Insight and Self-Reflection: I can guide you in exploring your thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours. Through reflective questioning and therapeutic techniques, I help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your patterns, and how they may contribute to your current difficulties. This self-reflection can lead to personal growth and positive changes. Coping Strategies and Skills: I have a wide range of therapeutic tools and techniques to help you develop healthy coping strategies. I can teach you practical skills to manage stress, improve communication, regulate emotions, and navigate challenging situations more effectively. These skills can be invaluable in various areas of your life. Goal Setting and Direction: When you feel lost or lack a sense of purpose, I can assist you in setting meaningful goals and exploring different paths. I can help you identify your values, strengths, and aspirations, enabling you to develop a clearer sense of direction and purpose in life. Mental Health Support: If you're experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition such as anxiety, depression, or trauma, there can be ongoing support for you. I am trained in evidence-based therapies that can alleviate symptoms and promote overall mental well-being. Remember, seeking help from a trained professional doesn't imply weakness. It's a courageous step towards self-care and personal growth. If you're facing challenging times, consider reaching out and I can support you on your journey. I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, with a diverse range of problems. I have a postgraduate in Integrative Counselling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the Black African and Asian Therapy Network (BAATN), and I strongly follow their Ethical Framework principles and code of conduct. I also hold a certificate in Couples Therapy from the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (NICP), and I am currently volunteering with SafeHaven Centre, acquiring and continuing professional development in family therapy. I also offer counselling in Shona.
